Philips AventNutrient-preserving bottle warmer

To all reviewers who complain about it taking too long or having to use cold water: Put your science hat on, and you will soon understand why this is necessary and better for your child! WHY 10 mins INSTEAD OF 3? Milk, especially breast milk, is a very fragile product. It contains a myriad of nutritional and helpful bacteria and enzymes that die off if they get exposed to too much heat or if their temperature changes too quickly. In effect, if you are heating up milk in 3 mins, you are killing off all the goodness that the breastmilk naturally provides. Why would you do that? COLD WATER In order to raise the temperature slowly and safely whilst preserving the nutrients of the milk, a process of heat transfer takes place. This means that the warmth from the surrounding water slowly infiltrates the milk in the middle and warms it up. The bottle warmer itself has no way of knowing what the temperature of the milk itself is, as it has no sensors that penetrate into the bottle. So it measures the temperature of the surrounding water instead. If you keep your milk in a fridge and use room temperature tap water to warm the milk up, the two liquids are at different starting points. In this scenario, the water will reach the “correct” temperature mug earlier than the milk in the bottle, so when you take the milk out of the warmer, it will still be too cold. If you surround the milk with water of the same temperature as the milk, the two liquids start off the same baseline and warm up evenly together. It’s simple physics. We keep a simple empty small 330ml bottle that once has Perrier in it in the fridge and refill it with tap water every time after we will have put a bottle on. It is a simple routine which anyone can easily remember, even with a hungry baby in the house. Finally, you will soon learn when your baby gets hungry and/or is supposed to eat anyway. When you know this it is also not difficult to put on the milk approximately 10 mins before feeding time. If you always wait with warming up the milk until your baby starts screaming, you are doing something wrong anyway!! So, for all responsible parents with a brain, I wholeheartedly recommend this product! It works excellently if you use it right and care about giving your child the best milk possible.

I love this warmer. The multiple settings is the best feature. It also doesn't over heat your breast milk and we all know how important that is after all the hard work we do to pump it. It even fits baby food jars.

This bootle warmer works pretty well. I like the different warming options and the ability to defrost. My only complaint is it grows mildew/mold on the bottom in the grooves. Unfortunately this unit doesn't have a flat interior bottom so it's impossible to fully clean. I rinse it out and fill it with vinegar often to clean but still I can't fully get in the grooves. Gray flakes will float in the water from it too. It's probably really unsanitary. I always make sure the water does not come in contact with any milk! Avent needs to fix this!

I received this bottle warmer as a gift and my twins are 3 months old and I have already had to change the bottle warmer for a new one because it worked perfectly for only the first month.

I used to have a Philips digital warmer in which I used it for 5 years until recently it turned faulty.. It's understandable as I hv used for 5 years. Wanted to get back the old model but it is obsolete. Wife bought this and it takes forever to warmup and can't work ... Lack of information online and no YouTube video to teach how to use it properly for this model.. It's a fail product

This model is more expensive than the other model so rightfully it should work better right? NO! I have used Philips bottle warmer few yrs ago for my elder Daughter and it works well but this model is total waste of money and time. It's slow in warming (I won't even use the word heating) and at heat lvl 3 it's just not hot. A product that only brings regret after purchase.

needed a bottle warmwr to heat up the breastmilk taken from the fridge. A sales girl recommended me this product, and I bought it. Back home, I kept trying and could not figure out why it was not warming up my bottle. My helper was saying it was not working the way it should be ready by 3mins. Then i surfed net, and realized there are 2 very similar products, the fast warmwr and the gentle one. The gentle bottle warmer is really a waste of money.

[Employee of philipsglobal] Follow the operating instruction and warmer do not work and had to send product to service center. To my surprise, I was told by service center staff that user have to pour cold water into warmer, pour it out and replace with normal water. It will then take 10mins to get milk warm. Imagine a hungry baby crying for milk while clueless parents trying to figure out how the warmer work! I'm a repeated Philips warmer user so I'm shocked that such 'intelligent software' as claimed did not have any instruction anywhere to guide users. How does Philips expect anyone to know? I have a lot Philips products at home and this is by far the worse in terms of product not meeting basic function and product return. Philips must improve on communication to avoid more negative NPS

This product doesn't fulfill it's basic functionality at all. It needs to be filled with refrigerated water (which makes absolute no sense) for it to work and even so, after waiting for more than 10min, the milk in the bottle is only at room temperature despite tuning to the heating knot. To add on, the instruction manual did not even mention anything about using cold refrigerated water. Philips seriously need to consider putting up some notice/announcement on their website to inform customers instead of us wasting time to go down to service centre. Bottom line, this is a flawed design product. Seriously disappointed with Philips, a brand which I trusted most.

Pretty much the same as the previous review. Why on earth should you have to use cold tap water from a fridge? I would never have purchased this item had i have known that there would have been this certain flaw in design. A very dissapointed customer here indeed.
